The Jeep Liberty’s V6 engine’s pistons are made of lightweight aluminum and precision-forged powder metal connecting rods to minimize weight (also helps contribute to the engine’s high rpm capability).

The Jeep Liberty’s advanced four-speed transmission uses fully adaptive electronic control for exceptionally smooth shifting.

Push the TOW / HAUL button next to the shifter for improved vehicle performance and fuel economy while minimizing engine noise during trailer towing or heavy-load hauling. The TOW / HAUL mode inhibits fourth gear and allows upshifts to third gear during higher speed / lighter loads.

Towing
The Jeep Liberty can tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.

The Jeep Liberty’s Trailer Sway Control (TSC) system helps reduce trailer sway and improves handling in adverse towing conditions caused by crosswinds and traffic.

TSC works with the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and the Antilock Brake System (ABS), alternating brake pressure to automatically correct oscillation in the vehicle trailer system.

TSC does not require any driver input. It automatically activates when needed. The ESC function lamp will flash when TSC is activated.

Handling
Expect unexpected road manners in the Jeep Liberty, thanks to a Short-Long Arm (SLA) independent front suspension, five-link rear suspension and power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering.

During extreme steering maneuvers the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system with Electronic roll Mitigation (ERM) helps maintain control by sensing when the vehicle is starting to over- or understeer.

ESC automatically applies individual brakes or controls the throttle to help you stay safely on course. When you don't want the extra hand, ESC is specially tuned for performance handling so you can switch it off.

Other accident avoidance features include:

• Antilock Brake System (ABS) with unique 4WD off road settings
• All-speed traction control, which applies brakes and transfers torque where needed
• Brake assist system, which applies maximum braking power during panic braking

Theft Deterrents
The Remote Keyless Entry fob controls door and tailgate locks, and includes a panic alarm for extra security, putting both convenience and security at your fingertips.

The Sentry Key® engine immobilizer prevents your Jeep® Liberty from being started without your key. Every key comes with a small, embedded chip that, when inserted in the ignition, connects with the engine and allows it to start. If no connection is made, or another key is inserted, your Jeep Liberty won't start.

An available security alarm deters would-be thieves from breaking into your Jeep Liberty, keeping your personal items safe.

Parking Assistance
The ParkSense® Rear Park Assist System uses sound waves to detect nearby obstacles in and near the rear path of the vehicle to help you maneuver in tight spaces at parking speeds.
